two metro workers -- confirmed that two metro workers were killed. >> this happened near the rockville station. courtney robinson is live on the phone with the latest details. what can you tell us about this? >> there are two automatic train technicians dead in what metro is calling an accident. one man died on the scene. another was 68 years old, he died from his injuries at suburban hospital. this happened along the red line track and happened around 1:45 this morning. this is between the shady grove and rockville metro stations. it will affect service between those stations. the men were hit by a vehicle large enough to play train car.

you're looking at a pickup truck or something that looks like something along those lines. off the record, that is not a prime mover. metro is investigating the ntsb will also be here investigating as well. in between the rockville and shady grove metro stops. metro is saying it will affect service this morning. there will be shuttle bus service available. this is the first two deaths for the 2010 year. in september, a metro worker died near braddock road. we are out here on the scene. investigators are looking here. they are trying to figure out what happened in this terrible

accident. >> this is pretty unbelievable, given the track record of metro this year. all of the emphasis on maintaining safety on the rail when they are in the presence of other trains. >> that is exactly right. a metro worker has not been cleared to speak with us. he says it is devastating. they're dealing with the deaths of co-workers. it's something they are all too familiar with. they saw this in 2009 and began in 2010. >> and the have inspectors on the track. metro initially has said there were not to be on the tracks. then they allowed those inspectors to be there and this happened. >> i'm out here this morning. this is not a prime mover.
